Hannah Paulus is a classically trained cellist with over a decade of collaborative performance experience. Originally from the East Bay Area in Northern California, she has spent much of her time surrounded by a variety of different genres and styles of music and performance. Hannah has performed in several different professional ensembles such as the Knoxville Symphony, Brevard Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony of the Mountains. Now based in Seattle Washington, she has become a full time member of the Yakima Symphony, has played with ECCO and the Tacoma Opera, and is running her own private teaching studio. 

Hannah has completed a Bachelors and a Masters in Cello Performance from the University of California in Santa Barbara, and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Her primary mentors include Cathy Allen Aird, Jennifer Kloetzel, Wesley Baldwin, and Jon Hamar. She has also studied with Irene Sharp, Richard Weiss, Keith Robinson, Crispin Campbell, Jeremy Cohen, and Jean-Michel Fonteneau. Hannah has also had extensive exposure to Body Mapping and the Alexander Technique, studying with Cathy Madden, Robert Britton, and Jed Diamond. 

Hannah has a particular interest in exploring how technology can be used to expand musicians' creativity and engagement with their practice and performance. While working on her Masters in Tennessee she began to further explore how this could be used for her own playing and began to write and perform her own music. She took improvisation and composition lessons with Jon Hamar and began playing with electro-acoustic improvisational groups and found more opportunities to collaborate with a wider group of musicians and artists.
