Hannah Paulus is a classically trained cellist with over a decade of collaborative performance experience. Raised in the East Bay Area of Northern California, Hannah grew up immersed in many musical styles. Hannah is a member of the Yakima Symphony and performs with ECCO and the Tacoma Opera. She has also played with the Knoxville Symphony, Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Symphony of the Mountains, and with The Cleveland Orchestra as part of the Kent Blossom Music Festival. Now based in Seattle, Washington, she runs her own private teaching studio.

She holds a B.M. from UC Santa Barbara and an M.M. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her primary mentors include Cathy Allen Aird, Jennifer Kloetzel, Wesley Baldwin, and Jon Hamar. She has also studied with Irene Sharp, Richard Weiss, Keith Robinson, Crispin Campbell, Jeremy Cohen, and Jean-Michel Fonteneau. Hannah has also had extensive exposure to Body Mapping and the Alexander Technique, which informs her approach to more sustainable, injury-free playing. She has studied with Cathy Madden, Robert Britton and Jed Diamond.

Hannah has a particular interest in exploring how technology can be used to expand musicians' creativity and engagement with their practice and performance. While working on her Masters in Tennessee she began to further explore how this could be used for her own playing and began to write and perform her own music. She took improvisation and composition lessons with Jon Hamar and began playing with electro-acoustic improvisational groups and found more opportunities to collaborate with a wider group of musicians and artists.
